It's back after 4 years!

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is the 19th FIFA World Cup, the premier international association football tournament, which is being held in South Africa. It is the first time the finals of the tournament have been staged in an African host nation. South Africa was selected as host in May 2004, beating Morocco and Egypt in a bidding process open only to African nations. The previous tournament was held in Germany, while the 2014 Cup will be in Brazil.

The finals began on 11 June with the group stage, in which the 32 qualifying teams play in round-robin groups of four teams, with the two top-ranked teams in each group proceeding. These 16 teams advanced to the knockout stage, beginning on 26 June. Games tied after normal time are settled using extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shootout, up to and including the World Cup Final, scheduled for 11 July at Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg.

I support Italy (Azzurri) & Spain (La Roja) team although Italy did not made it to the next round. Guest they can't defend their last championship in 2006. Sigh~

The Italian national football team represents Italy in international football competition and is controlled by the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC). They are the current World Champions, having won the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Italy is the second most successful national team in the history of the World Cup having won four titles (1934, 1938, 1982, 2006), just one fewer than Brazil. To this tally they can add one European championship (1968), one Olympic football tournament (1936) and two (defunct) Central European International Cups.

The traditional colour of the national team (as well as all Italian teams and athletes) is azure blue (azzurro, in Italian), due to the "Azzurro Savoia" (Savoy Blue), the colour traditionally linked to the royal dynasty which unified Italy in 1861, and maintained in the official standard of the President of the Italian Republic.
